Loreto is the nearest town to San Jose de Payamino. It is the capital fo the Loreto Canton in the Orellana Province and has around 15.000 inhabitants.

The town lies on the Tena-Coca road, approximately 3 hours bus drive from Tena and 45 kilometers before reachin Coca. The trip from Tena to Loreto Road is quite a spectacular ride that takes you up to 1200 m and then descends into the lowlands, continuing downslope to Coca.

You can find almost all commodities, internet and phones in Loreto, but there are few hotels and no banks and ATM machines. But buses Coca and Tena are frequent. Its also common and cheap to take a small bus called a ranchera to Coca or a share taxi, which is cheap. The drive takes about 45 minutes.Loreto is the nearest town to San Jose de Payamino.
